Explanation
The path is uphill, but it can be overcome quickly to reach what can be described as a natural amphitheatre, situated on a slope, with an extraordinary view of the Pizzo delle Colombe and its pinnacles: these are the most spectacular outcrops of the dolomitic rocks that constitute the cover the Saint-Gotthard massif.
The curious morphology of towers and pinnacles, highlighted by the place-name Campanin, is the result of the erosive action of water that over millennia has isolated the numerous rocky spires.
Then the second ascent begins, which becomes the more challenging part of the hike due to the increase in altitude difference.
However, every effort is rewarded when reaching the top of the Passo delle Colombe and, with just a few more steps, Lake Campanitt.
Descend in the direction of the Alpe Carorescio while admiring the lush Ritom region, and then climb up to the Passo del Sole. Even from here the view of the other side of the Campanitt is truly priceless.
The greatest efforts are now finished and the long descent begins, first towards Lareccio, then Ai Pini and finally back to Casaccia.
