Leventina
Be it on foot, on a mountain bike or on horseback, nature-lovers can enjoy 650 kilometres of trails immersed in the lush green of the Leventina, or ride the Ritom funicular, one of the fastest in the world, and modern cable cars to reach long ski pistes, welcoming mountain refuges, and magnificent alpine lakes. All the while, they can enjoy breathtaking views, following in the footsteps of an ancient culture with a tradition going back centuries, preserved in local museums or captured in magnificent masterpieces from the Romanesque period.
The Gotthard region, also famous for having the world’s longest railway tunnel, is characterised by the longest historic road in Switzerland, the Tremola, which climbs the slopes on the south side of the pass, offering utterly breathtaking views.
