Swiss Castles Day
Swiss Castle Day is the most important event organized by the Swiss Castle Association and its members. On the first Sunday in October, a varied program for a wide audience, especially families, takes place in three language regions of Switzerland. On October 4, 2026, 32 castles will offer exciting and varied programs on the theme of "Travel."
On the occasion of Swiss Castles Day, Montebello Castle hosts a medieval re-enactment with Spada nella Rocca.
Programme of the day
(Admission fee from 10.00 am)
- 11.00 am: Combat in medieval armour
- 11.30 am: Juggling and Italian sword demonstration
- 1.00 pm: Medieval dance
- 1.30 pm: Combat in medieval armour
- 2.00 pm: Parade and presentation of the groups + historical presentation
- 2.45 pm: Medieval jousting on horseback + fire-eating show
- 4.30 pm: Sword demonstration
- 5.00 pm: Final parade
Also inside the castle: market stalls and merchants, handicrafts, archery, musicians, dancing, medieval camp life, storytellers, juggling, children's theatre and much more!
Castel Grande, meanwhile, will host a concert from 11:00 to 12:00. In the courtyard of Castel Grande, beneath the chestnut tree, piano, violin and voice come together for a special musical encounter in collaboration with the 753 ArteBellezza association.
