Organ concert

The primary aim of the concert is to introduce the audience to the many extraordinary sounds of the organ of the Collegiate Church, an instrument with a history spanning several centuries. Its oldest tonal core dates back to 1588, as evidenced by an inscription found behind one of its largest pipes. This confirms that it was built by the renowned Antegnati workshop of Brescia, whose craftsmen are often regarded as the “Stradivari” of organ building.
The programme devised by Maestro Tarabbia will take the audience on a journey through more than two centuries of organ literature. The concert is intended as an experience open to everyone, particularly to those who are less familiar with the organ repertoire. It will also provide an opportunity to discover the precious instrument of the Collegiate Church of Bellinzona, which already plays a prominent role in the concerts organised there every year as part of the “Antegnati” Organ Festival, under the artistic direction of Maestro Alessandro Passuello.
Maestro Christian Tarabbia is an organist based in Arona. He studied in Italy under the guidance of Lorenzo Ghielmi and has subsequently performed throughout Europe, as well as in Russia, the United States and Australia. He is frequently invited to perform at major organ festivals and is particularly appreciated for his ability to create lively and engaging programmes suitable for audiences of all kinds
