Festa della Madonna del Rosario - Parade of Historical Militia in L'Aquila

A unique event combining history, tradition, and spirituality! The evocative Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary returns to Aquila, enhanced by the spectacular parade of Napoleonic troops, transporting the town back in time with period costumes and a sense of time.

An opportunity to experience community together and rediscover the historical and cultural roots of the area.

Programme

  • 07:30 – Reveille by the Drummers
  • 07:45 – Assembly of the Company at the Municipal Building of Aquila
  • 08:00 – Collection of the flag and greeting of the attending authorities
  • 08:30 – Holy Mass for the Militia at San Vittore Church in Aquila
  • 09:00 – Parade in Cresedo and Dangio
  • 10:00 – Parade in Grumarone
  • 10:30 – Solemn Mass
  • 11:30 – Kiss of Peace
  • 12:00 – Parade and dismissal for lunch
  • 14:00 – Assembly of the Company in the main square of Aquila
  • 14:30 – Vespers and procession to Dangio and return
  • 16:00 – Funeral march in honour of the deceased at the Aquila Cemetery, with ceremonial blank firing
  • 16:30 – Final parade – Presentation of the “Honour and Loyalty” medals
  • 17:00 – Handover of the flag
