What if a Yeti were actually hiding right here in our mountains?

Professor Fred Yuroni, a slightly eccentric and extremely meticulous scientist, is convinced of it. For a long time, he has been tracking footprints, listening to sounds, measuring altitudes, and gathering every possible clue to prove the existence of this mysterious creature. He has explored our region, noting down every observation in a journal. Yet, despite all his research, he is still missing that final, definitive piece of evidence.

You will become his research team and help him in his mission, exploring the Airolo-Pesciüm area with fresh eyes (and ears).

How does the Yeti Hunt work?

It is a treasure hunt (or rather, a Yeti Hunt) played via smartphone, designed specifically for families and their little explorers. Together, you will spend a fun morning or afternoon outdoors, walking along our trails and getting to know the Airolo-Pesciüm region.

Taking part is simple. Purchase the game at the ticket office, and you will receive a QR code that allows you to download the Yeti Hunt app onto your smartphone and begin the adventure. From that moment on, Professor Yuroni will guide you along the route. Inside the app, you can read his journal and discover how his research in Airolo unfolded. Step by step, you will unlock new clues. To progress, you will need to observe your surroundings, recognise tracks, and solve small puzzles. The entire route can be completed at your own pace, stopping whenever you like along the way.

It is, therefore, an interactive game that invites you to observe, listen, and discover our region. Following Professor Yuroni's story, little explorers will learn to recognise animal tracks, listen to bird calls, and discover the plants and rocks of our mountains. Along the way, they will also uncover many fascinating facts about the local environment and geography.

And what about the Yeti?

This is the part we cannot reveal to you just yet. Professor Yuroni has searched for footprints, hairs, and traces. He has observed the mountains, listened to the forest, and gathered clues. But definitive proof... that is still missing. Who knows, perhaps you will be the ones to find what the professor failed to see.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION FOR PARTICIPATION

Taking part is very simple: you can purchase the game at the ticket office at the cable car departure point. You will then be asked to scan a QR code with your smartphone to download the Yeti Hunt app.

The game costs CHF 15 per group, regardless of the number of participants. The cable car ticket is not included in the price.

You can play whenever you prefer, with no fixed schedules. The game is available from 8 August and throughout the summer season.

  • Departure: from the Airolo valley station. The route is app-guided and ends at Pesciüm.
  • Duration: about 2–3 hours (depending on your pace and breaks).
  • Cost: CHF 15 per group, regardless of the number of participants. The return cable car ticket is not included. Cable car prices can be checked on www.airolo.ch.
  • Language: the game is currently available in Italian.
  • Recommended equipment: smartphone with a fully charged battery (and a power bank just in case), hiking boots, water, sun protection, and some snacks.
