The Via del Ceneri is an educational and cultural itinerary. This segment of the historic Via Gottardo stretches between the Ceneri Pass (Piazza Ticino) and the Cadenazzo Railway Station, crossing the Terre del Ceneri and guiding visitors to rediscover the landscape occupying the central position in Ticino.

Tourist information and educational panels along this route tell the history of the locations and the characteristics of the territory, interwoven with the stories of the people who lived it. Some of the panels, illustrated by Corrado Mordasini and designed for younger visitors, describe the background related to some of the surrounding locations. The route includes evidence of rural life such as mills and chestnut woods, and a motorway underpass transformed into a gallery illustrating three centuries of transport history.

For those wishing to continue the experience, the official route can be extended until Bellinzona. This route winds through the villages of Sant'Antonino, Camorino, and Giubiasco to the Fortress of Bellinzona, offering a unique opportunity to further explore the Ticino region and admire its historical and natural beauty. The itinerary is connected to other hiking routes such as the Via Storica del Montecenerino, (which links Rivera with Quartino), the Strada Regina in the direction of Lake Ceresio, the Fortini della Fame in Camorino, and the Via dell'Acqua and the Via del Ferro that ascend into Val Morobbia. The aim was to create a network of routes to unite the Bellinzona, Locarno and Lugano regions and their main centres.
