The Campo Tencia hut is located at 2,140 m a.s.l. on a natural terrace called Poggio del Giübin overlooking the upper Piumogna Valley. Owned by the CAS Ticino section, the hut - built in 1912 at the foot of the peak of the same name - is the first mountain hut to be built in the Ticino alps.

From Dalpe, follow the trail through the woods towards the Campo Tencia hut to get to Polpiano. From here enter the Campo Tencia Federal Game Reserve. Once in the charming hamlet of Piumogna, the trail rises gently and continues into the Lambro woods. Once in Sgnòi, cross the small bridge over the river and continue to climb more steeply until the pastures of Alpe di Crozlina, after which the trail continues slightly uphill and then descends slightly to cross the Piumogna River. The last stretch before the hut is over scree with a 100-metre difference in altitude.

From the hut, perched on a beautiful panoramic hill, hike for another half an hour uphill with a further altitude difference of 100 metres to reach Lake Morghirolo. Enclosed in a basin at the top of the magnificent Piumogna Valley, its clear blue waters are tempting for a swim but be sure to test the temperature first!

    Tips and suggestions

Montagnepulite: This project was born to promote an effective management and sustainable use of mountain huts in Ticino, and in particular the litter management. The responsible management of litter in the mountains is a matter of common sense. We can all contribute: www.montagnepulite.ch

Variant A: The lakeshore excursion is characterised by a number of very rocky stretches (time required: 45min; length: 1 km).

Variant B: Variant B heads towards Piz Campolungo and then proceeds towards Cima di Lei alpine pasture, with its magnificent views of the Campo Tencia group (time required: 1h 45min; length: 1.8 km).
