Ceneri Bike - Enjoying sport & nature!Video: Bellinzona e Valli Turismo
A medium difficulty circular route usable almost all year round that offers a view over the Piano di Magadino up to Lake Maggiore. This itinerary is very interesting both from a naturalistic and historical perspective, especially thanks to the descriptions on the thematic panels of the Via del Ceneri along the route.
From Cadenazzo railway station, you travel on comfortable paved roads without excessive elevation changes, using the Pedemontano cycle path no. 311, until Sant’Antonino. From here, you start climbing steadily, initially still on asphalt road, towards Paiardi and then towards Monti dei Bassi, reachable via a comfortable forest road that crosses a beautiful chestnut forest and an arboretum.
From Monti dei Bassi, a short but fun single trail leads the biker onto a section of asphalt road that, in just over a kilometer, will bring him to the start of a second single trail section. In this area there are some exposed sections that require the cyclist to walk their MTB: therefore, particular caution is required.
After about 1.5 km, the terrain becomes easier, alternating between asphalt and single trails, reaching the village of Robasacco. Here begins a magnificent route, a mix of single trail and dirt road, which, crossing the Pontiva chestnut forest, leads to the military square of Monte Ceneri. Crossing the chestnut forest is an immersion in history, nature, and short but steep ramps that can raise the heart rate even for the most trained bikers.
