Le donne di Isone - Suite Corale

The DesDes Choir of Faido and the Callìope Choir of Ascona, directed by Maestro Andrea Cupia, will perform in three concerts dedicated to the Women of Isone: the first in Isone, followed by Bellinzona and finally Mendrisio.

Until around 1820, the women of the municipality of Isone did not sing in church during Mass; only the men joined their voices with that of the parish priest. However, when the young priest Cesare Trefogli of Torricella was appointed parish priest of Isone, everything changed. This historic event is the basis of the choral concert.

«The Women of Isone 1820» is part of the project «Suite corale – Suite chorale – Chorische Suite», which tells, through music and thanks to exceptional choirs, little-known stories of women from the cantons of Ticino, Lucerne, Basel-Landschaft, Zurich, Vaud, and Geneva.
