Exhibition - Alvaro Taddei

Alvaro Taddei, born in 1959 in Mesolcina, has cultivated a strong passion for drawing and painting since childhood.

During secondary school, he was guided by his drawing teacher, Lulo Tognola, who strengthened his interest in art. After completing his compulsory education, he chose the precise and rigorous path of a machine designer, learning to tame ink as an inner discipline. In 1982, he graduated from the Bienne School of Engineering, but it was during those years that something changed: oil and pencil painting entered his life, accompanying him over time.

For over twenty years, he has practiced tai chi quan and qi gong, studied the Chinese language, and explored Taoist philosophy. This calm and meditative slowness flow through his works: watercolors on rice paper that capture animals, oriental figures, and Taoist texts, immersed in repetitive and complex scenarios, like breathing mandalas.

His encounter with the artist Angela Rey in 2024 opened a new path: she invited him to unleash his line, to dare abstraction. Since then, Alvaro has experimented with acrylic paints, different materials, and laser engravings that trace not only the surface, but also an inner journey.

Each of his works is a journey: a balance between technique and intuition, between gesture and silence, between the visible and the intuitable. An ongoing experiment, born from hours of preparation and an endless thirst for research.
