Swiss Castle Day

7th Swiss Castles Day

EAT! ESSEN! MANGER!

On Sunday, 2nd October 2022, interesting events will take place in the 28 Swiss castles.

Yesterday's palates, today's palates
What was eaten in the canton of Ticino one hundred, two hundred or seven hundred years ago?

Can the paintings on the wooden panels of the 15th century ceiling of the Cervia also tell us about the dishes that were served at the banquets of the illustrious Ghiringhelli and Muggiasca families of Bellinzona?

Or what gastronomic mysteries linked to nature do the surrealist paintings of the last century painter Max Läubli reveal to us?

To get an answer to these questions, you have to travel to Bellinzona on 2 October 2022: Swiss Castles Day, dedicated this year to the theme of gastronomy. For the occasion, two guided tour experiences are offered at Castelgrande and Castello Sasso Corbaro, in connection with the Renaissance work on the Cervia ceiling and the monographic exhibition 'The Life' of the artist Max Läubli.

In addition, guided tours and archaeological workshops by the Ticino Archaeological Association on the topic of cuisine in antiquity as part of the new exhibition Archaeology Montebello.

The theme of this day will be eating, with a special focus on the medieval cuisine of the famous Maestro Martino and a gastronomic lecture on the subject by the well-known Bruno Laurioux. Upon reservation, it will be possible to enjoy a medieval menu based on Maestro Martino's recipes, at the Castelgrande Restaurant.

We would like to remind you that it is always possible to taste Maestro Martino's delicious recipes in various restaurants in the Bellinzona e Valli region. You can consult the list at the following link.
