Photographic exhibition - Families: exploring the past, imagining the future

On the occasion of the 30th edition of the International Year of the Family (1994-2024), Pro Familia Svizzera Italiana presents at the Cantonal Library in Bellinzona a travelling photographic exhibition illustrating the significant achievements in family policies in Switzerland and Canton Ticino.

Through a temporal journey, visitors will have the opportunity to explore over 150 years of challenges concerning family roles and work: from the era of industrialisation and the bourgeois model of the family at the end of the 19th century, to the consumer society and the spread of the model of the housewife mother after the Second World War. Topics such as the choice of motherhood and the new status for women and young people at the beginning of the new millennium will also be addressed, leading to a reflection on the family models and roles that today's society has reconfigured.

The aim of the exhibition is to stimulate reflections that can foster more conscious and far-sighted choices to promote the reconciliation of family and work, both at a political, corporate and institutional level and among citizens.

Public evening - 11 March, 6 pm
As part of the photo exhibition, the City of Bellinzona is organising a presentation dedicated to the topic of work-life balance.
Guided tours of the exhibition from 17.30. Followed by refreshments
