A medium-difficult trip crossing the Val Bedretto following the beautiful high mountain trail that offers a splendid view of the valley and the San Gottardo Pass. From Airolo the road steadily climbs towards the Pesciüm alp, also reachable by cable car. From here starts the dirt trail winding through various alpine meadows and larch forests dotted with blueberry bushes. Upon reaching the village of Ronco, you meet the paved road descending from the Nufenen Pass, leading back to Airolo.

    POINTS OF INTEREST

The Gottardo Demonstration Dairy, where you can purchase fresh dairy products; the Forte Airolo Museum, a massive structure whose roof resembles a turtle shell, and the Bedrina Barracks, semicircular and entirely made of reinforced concrete. Further up, towards the San Gottardo Pass, begins the Tremola, the old cobblestone road: with its 24 hairpin bends and an elevation gain exceeding 300 m in the steepest part, it is the longest road monument in Switzerland. At the summit of the Pass are the National San Gottardo Museum and the Sasso San Gottardo Museum.
